God Cares About the Details

For many years my wife has worked with young children in Sunday
School. One of the things she loves to do is have the children pray.
They bring their prayer requests: needs can range from "pray that
my dog won't chase the cat" to "pray that my teacher will be OK after
her baby died". The requests are then kept and prayed for each week
until there is an answer. When a prayer is answered it is displayed in
one form or another in the classroom. By the end of the year, they
will see many prayers up on the wall, a strong and visual reminder
that our mighty God cares about the big and small parts of our lives.
Teri often comes home and tells me how excited the children are when
prayers are answered. As adults, we seem to lose that enthusiasm--at
least I do--so lately, I have been taking the time to soak in how
amazing it is that we even have the opportunity to pray to the Creator
of all that is.
When I hold my beautiful grandson, I am awestruck by God's
attention to detail in the way he knit Elijah together in his mother's
womb and brought him to the world, a perfect tiny human being. As I
drive into Bonney Lake every morning at sunrise, I am powerfully
reminded that the God who made that majestic mountain has made himself
available to talk to me.
Not only do we have the opportunity, but he wants us to bring
everything to him in prayer. That alone should get us excited!
Perhaps we should all be more like these children and share our
answered prayers with each other to celebrate all the things God has
done in our lives and learn to enjoy this wonderful tool that God has
given us to use.
