How Elim Can Be a Part of Fulfilling the Great
Commission
by
Cal Kierum
Last week we discussed the mandate for reaching
unreached people groups with the Gospel, and how more than 6,000
people groups remain unreached.
So, what does this mean to us here at Elim? We believe that God is
calling us to greater involvement with unreached people groups. This
year we have added Pastor Nubako Selenga to our supported
missionaries. He leads a multinational group of Evangelical Free
churches in Africa whose purpose is to mobilize Africans to reach
unreached Africans in a holistic fashion.
But we also believe that God would have us further engage in the call
to reach unreached peoples through identifying a specific unreached
people group for us to focus on. Then, we can begin to pray for and
support efforts to reach them with the Gospel.
For each of you who are part of God’s family at Elim, please pray for
God’s leading as we prayerfully consider how we may engage more with
the mandate to reach unreached peoples. I think back to the task that
Nehemiah faced in rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. It seemed like
such a huge task until he called each family to work on their own
small portion of the wall. When everyone did his or her part, no
matter how small, the wall was rebuilt.
Likewise, please pray also for how God would call you to be part of
His mission to reach the nations. Consider how you may get involved
through intentional prayer, giving of your time or talents or monies
to be a sender, or even how God might use you on a mission trip.
Consider how you can be part of God’s mission … until every people has
heard the Gospel!
